SAP EWM Transformation

SAP EWM on S/4HANA - your state-of-the-art warehouse management system

If you only consider the technical point of view, the migration from your current WMS to S/4HANA is not absolutely necessary. Although SAP will stop the support for ERP/ECC at the end of 2027,  it is still possible to continue using the old WM system temporarily via StRM ("Stock room management"). However, we recommend this only as a temporary solution, as you will not be able to benefit from essential advantages:

  • StRM is only an executable collection of some basic functions of the previous LE-WM functionality. Therefore it only has a significantly reduced range of functions.

  • Some central functionalities, which the previous WM provided, are completely missing under StRM, e.g. cross-docking, task & resource management, wave management, yard management and some more.

  • SAP WM will no longer be enhanced, while EWM will be continuously equipped with new or improved functionalities.

In conclusion, this temporary solution can therefore only be considered for small warehouses with a simple structure and processes.
