The carve-out became necessary after the sale of the Magazine zum Globus AG by the Migros Group. Among the 75 percent of all IT services in the Globus system landscape that were migrated were 14 SAP ERP systems and 8 Java-based systems that were rebuilt in the environment of the new base provider of itesys. "The carve-out was a unique challenge for us, because ongoing business operations had to continue as far as possible without disruption. With retailsolutions we had experienced experts at our side, who accompanied us competently step by step on the way to our IT-technical independence", says Francesco Santoli, Head of ERP Applications at Globus. "We were even able to complete the project before the planned target date".
150 Interfaces and the set-up of the new system landscape
The replacement was implemented in various parts. About 150 interfaces are the basis for an exchange of data between different internal and external systems and thus enable the maintenance of the operating processes as well as the further trouble-free running of the business processes. After the connectivity test of the interfaces, retailsolutions defined the network-technical requirements in cooperation with the project team and opened the firewalls accordingly, so that finally all interfaces could be set live. After the SAP systems were set live, carve-outs of other systems such as CRM, mail server or Workplace followed. For the Globus users themselves, little has changed. They still work in the same system, but in a newly implemented system landscape. In this way, delays in the processes could be avoided.
