The Swiss SAP consultancy retailsolutions has implemented a complex project to optimise the promotion planning processes at Pets at Home, the largest national pet supplies retailer in the United Kingdom. The basis for this was the new promotion solution SAP PMR (Promotion Management for Retail), with which the reliability of the offer execution in the downstream systems could be sustainably improved and new promotion types could be introduced. Together with the retailsolutions team, specific organisational requirements were implemented with the new solution, including a customised application for managing supplier compensation and an interactive calendar for promotional activities. Just ten months after the start of the pilot phase, the new system with all workflows was fully and smoothly embedded in the existing process landscape.
Successful implementation without system interruptions
During this time, almost 4,000 offers of varying complexity were created and successfully launched. Thanks to improved integration, the number of error messages in the downstream systems was reduced from 5% to less than 1%. Moreover, thanks to a phased approach, no system shutdowns were required during this time
